Faux 3D Decoupage with Yana

Hello friends! This is Yana and I hope you are having a fabulous week!

For my monthly video tutorial I decided to explore a 3D decoupage look and translate it onto my cards.

3D decoupage is the art of layering paper to create a 3d effect by cutting out elements of varying sizes from a series of identical images and layering them on top of each other, usually with foam adhesive between each layer to give the image more depth.

I used the Petunia Builder stamps and dies to create a faux 3D decoupage look on my 4 Bar cards. To create a 3D decoupage look I needed to first make identical images and I did so by stamping two of each image onto white paper. My images are identical in size and I will offset them when I go to foam mount them to add additional dimension to my card.

I used my mini MISTI stamp positioner and stamped 2 sets of images - flowers and leaves using 2 sets of ink colors. I used Miami Spice, Sweet Nectar and Flamingo colors to stamp peach colored petunias and Bloomsberry, Cockleshell and Cranberry to stamp purple petunias. I also stamped leaves using Last Leaf and Appletini ink.

As soon as my stamping was done I cut these images out using coordinating dies. Since this technique requires a lot of cutting it's best to have coordinating dies for your images so that you're not doing a ton of cutting by hand.

After I die cut my flowers I noticed the centers became too pale for my taste, so I used Cranberry Crush ink and re-stamped those to make them much more prominent on my flowers. I used Cranberry crush for my peach flowers and also intensified the centers on my purple flowers by using black ink.

I made simple backgrounds using the Big Top Background stamp and stamped it using Fairy Dust Ink Color. I also added a sentiment onto each of my panels and my sentiments came from the Kind Soul stamp set.

I used two kinds of adhesive to adhere my die cut pieces - foam adhesive and glue. Glue was used to adhere leaves (the bottom layer of leaves) and foam adhesive used to adhere flowers and 2nd layer of leaves.

For a true 3D decoupage look you'll need to foam mount smaller images over your main images, but since I didn't have smaller versions for each image (I had some smaller flowers but I didn't have a smaller version of a flower that is facing sideways and smaller versions of leaves) I foam mounted identical images and simply offset them.

Lastly, I embellished my cards using few enamel dots in green.

Have fun stamping!

Vintage Big Deal with Joni

Hello everyone, Joni here sharing my take on the Big Deal stamp set and companion die. Although this set looks great in bright primary colors, I wanted to put a softer almost vintage twist on it. And I think it looks amazing! For this project I also used the Gift Card Layers Die.

To begin, I first distressed my white card panel with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Evergreen Bough, Black Soot, and Antique Linen. Next, I colored the cute images with Copic Markers and then die-cut them.

Next, I splattered the panel with Gansai Tambi Starry Colors in gold. Next I stamped the sentiment using Wplus9 PURE COLOR in Coconut Husk and Sweet Nectar Dye Ink. Then, I added some sequins from the Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Star Sequins Mix and Sparkling Clear Confetti Mix.

I hope you enjoyed! I cannot wait to see your take on this set.

Have a wonderful Week!

Kind And Beautiful Soul With Kara

Hey Guys! Kara back with you today and I am still having a great time creating with the newest release products. This time I pulled out Kind Soul. a beautiful stamp set with a gorgeous large floral image and sentiments to match. I work with a teacher who truly inspires the students to love themselves and others, and this card is perfect for her!

I kept it really simple and let these flowers shine. I placed the large stamp onto an acrylic block and inked it up with Memento ink so that I could do some Copic coloring. I stamped the image in the bottom left corner and then the opposite corner - purposely stamping less of the image in the top right for a little asymmetry. I stamped the two part sentiment in the center using PURE COLOR Dye Ink in Black.

Once everything was stamped I could start my coloring using Copic Markers. I used rich reds {R24, R29, R59} and bright yellows {Y00, Y13, Y15} for my flowers, and deep greens {YG61, YG63, YG67} for my leaves. I outlined everything in a light gray {T1} to help the image pop a little bit more.

A stamp set like Kind Soul makes it easy to create a simple card with a lot of impact. I love it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

GUEST ARTIST FEATURE: Marybeth Lopez

Hi there! My name is Marybeth Lopez, I am so excited to be guest designing for WPlus9 today! I was asked right before Christmas so what a gift and honor! I have a simply stamped card and iPhone cover design to share with you today.

I used Summer Blooms on my card and simply stamped - no masking or cutting - just stamped the flowers as I went along. Each leaf and bloom is stamped in one color, the darker shade was achieved by over-stamping the image a couple of times using the Misti stamping tool.

I added the little stamp that is pictured on top as an accent on most of the blooms because I liked it. The photo underneath that shows how I used the fun foam for my backing. I used three pieces because I didn't have a full piece, but it still works. Then I just adhered it to the back of the larger layer hexagon that I did my stamping on.

I have another fun project to share with you - personalizing my iPhone with the Whimsy Alpha and Watercolored Anemones stamps and dies.

I change up my clear phone case often and this time decided to personalize it with this fun alphabet. I first ran my card stock through the Xyron Sticker Maker and then stamped using my MISTI stamping tool.

Just to be safe, I did test the adhesive to see how easily it comes off the phone before adhering, and it came off very easily.

I used the Watercolored Anemones stamps and dies for the blooms on the back of my iPhone. I also ran those through the Xyron.

I think it would be fun to send a personal name, etc. included inside a birthday card, all the recipient would have to do is peal and stick. Or create a custom case as a gift. I happened to get my case from Amazon. I can't tell you how much I love this Whimsy Alpha set, so many options!

Thank so much for the visit today!

~Marybeth
